Pentax ME

My first SLR

Updated January 7th 2020.

This was my first SLR camera. My previous camera was an Kodak Pocket Instamatic. A quality upgrade to 35mm film. Pentax Me is automatic aperture priority only with center weighted light metering and 8s to 1/1000s shutter speed. Focusing is with split screen and microprism. Production started in 1976, it was the smallest SLR available. Easy to bring along with the small SMC lenses. I have used two lenses, 50 mm and 28 mm. The standard SMC 50mm 1:1.7 is sharp and still useable on digital Pentax models with K mount. After all these years there is slight dust contamination visible inside both lenses.

Last film on a lightbox, Fji RDPIII.

Dust shown inside Pentax 50mm 1.7 SMC lens.

After 40 + years, it is slight dust inside lenses. Use a flashlight to check for dust inside the lens.
